Being a traveller on the cheap, when I take in a short city break I prefer to stay in a hostel and for visits to Barcelona , I can easily recommend the Saint Jordi Alberg on Roger Du Lluria.

On arrival, the staff was very helpful, offering maps and information and showing me to my room which was clean and not overcrowded. The living quarters were spacious and allowed a great meeting place and the free internet access was a great bonus. There were plenty of security boxes available and although at busy times there may have been a queue for the showers, these were also kept clean and tidy.

The hostel is within easy walking distance (no more than 10 minutes) of the Placa de Catalunya and Las Rambla but far enough away to allow for some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle that these two areas offer.

With Girona, Diagonal and Passeig De Gracia metro stops all very close by, the hostel has great transport links available and probably most importantly, directly opposite the entrance to the hostel was a mini supermarket allowing you to stock up on any food or drink items you need for your stay.

I’ve used this hostel twice previously and will be using it again in March this year and if you are looking for a great place to stay at a very affordable price, it will be hard to find anywhere better within Barcelona.
